About me

Lore Maheux's art revolves around geometric figures, specifically the circle, triangle, and square. These forms bring her comfort since they will never change because they are linked to a mathematical formula. These figures became the building blocks of her imaginary world. Her imagined world transforms into a geometric playground where balance and tension are paramount. The various forms are balanced against and on top of one another. They experiment with gravity and the strain of nearly falling.

Glass, black clay, porcelain, wood, and metal are the most commonly used materials in her work. She prefers to work with the material's original colour while experimenting with how she can change the look by changing the texture or reflection.
The pieces may be site-specific, responding to their surroundings, as the artist seeks out unexpected placements and connections in the surrounding area. As the sculptures seek new ways to interact with one another, each installation is a constantly changing scenario. She's looking into how different environments affect her work and how they interact with each other.
